چکیده

Hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia (OslerWeber-Rendu disease) is an uncommon disease and, in over 98% of cases, the patients present with recurrent episodes of epistaxis (Harrison, 1964). It has been estimated that 15% of patients develop a pulmonary arterio-venous fistula during their lives (Hodgson et al., 1959). The patient with a pulmonary arterio-venous fistula may suffer from various complications. According to Dalton et al. (1967), bleeding with haemoptysis occurs in approximately 25% of cases. Spontaneous haemothorax as a complication in Osler-Weber-Rendu disease is, however, a very rare event. We describe here a patient who presented with severe central chest pain due to spontaneous haemothorax.

Fatal right spontaneous haemothorax in Von Recklinghausen's disease.

Spontaneous massive haemothorax is uncommon and usually occurs as a result of pulmonary infarction, arteriovenous fistula, neoplasm, ruptured aortic aneurysm, rupture of pleural adhesions or pleural endometriosis. Massive haemothorax in Von Recklinghausen's disease occurs rarely but with potentially fatal results in spite of surgery. We present a case of a spontaneous massive exsanguinating hae...

Spontaneous haemothorax: a cause of sudden death in von Recklinghausen's disease.

Vasculopathy is a relatively frequent but poorly recognised manifestation of von Recklinghausen's neurofibromatosis. One of its more dramatic presentations is as spontaneous haemothorax. Clinicians and pathologists should be aware of this syndrome as a cause of sudden death in patients with neurofibromatosis.

Spontaneous haemothorax: a case report.

Haemothorax is one of the less common presentations that requires hospital admission. Most cases are associated with underlying causes, but there is such an entity called spontaneous haemothorax. Spontaneous haemothorax is commonly associated with adhesions within the pleural cavity. Here, we reported two cases of young adults who presented with massive spontaneous haemothorax and required emer...
